About
Thank you for checking out my blog, it's lovely to have you here! My name is Mel, the Aussie Teacher Mum. My blog is all about helping educators to focus on the fun side of the job, teaching!
So often I hear of teachers getting swamped with the stresses of planning, assessing, reporting, creating resources, the list goes on. Therefore, I decided to start a blog to share my educational resources along with tips and tricks that help me every day in the classroom. After all, one of the most rewarding things about the teaching vocation is the opportunity to collaborate with other educators from around the world to share ideas, provide feedback and better our teaching practice every day.
Teacher Life
I graduated university with my Bachelor of Primary Education in 2012 and have been teaching ever since. My passion is upper primary (Grade 5 and 6) because I love the higher level thinking that can be sparked in students that age. A lot of my educational resources are aimed around this age level, but I love branching into all key learning areas and age levels. So you should be able to find something to make your life easier, no matter what grade level you teach!
Personal Life
I moved from Brisbane to Melbourne in 2016 to start a new teaching position. Six months after moving interstate, I met my future husband on a blind date. We were engaged within 18 months and married in 2019.
Wasting no time, we welcomed our beautiful daughter, Brooklyn into the world at the beginning of 2020. We live in Melbourne with our two golden retrievers, Harvey and Honey. I have a teaching position at a wonderful school nearby but am currently taking some time off to raise our daughter. This is allowing me to spend more time doing what I love - creating resources!
Thanks again for stopping by and I hope you find my blog and resources useful in your classroom.
